 World Bacon Council
The first meeting of the World Bacon Council was held in Edmonton on December 6, 2009. The purpose: to find the very best bacon in Edmonton. The 'Bacon Quest' was published in the first publication of 'The Tomato' in 2010 (formerly City Palate). The results were unanimous - our Drycured Unsmoked Back Bacon was voted Number ONE. We Eat Together
We are very proud to have been associated with this fabulous new cookbook, featuring many local producers from the Edmonton area. The book is based on ten local food producers, and the recipes created by the authors feature many of those local food products. You can find out more about the cookbook and where you can buy it by visiting www.weeattogether.ca . The book launch was held on 25th November 2009 at D'Lish Studio in Edmonton. It was a wonderful evening of chatting, eating and drinking local wine! On Tuesday 1st December it was featured on City TV's 'Your City' at both 6pm and 11pm. The City TV camera crew visited our farm and you can see footage of their visit on the show. No link is available yet, but will be posted in due course.
  
Canadian Geographic Magazine

The Endless Feast
Peas on Earth Organic Garden in St. Albert on 28th August 2009 was the location for the filming of an American public television series The Endless Feast, that showcases communities with a food story to tell. The 90 diners enjoyed a five course meal featuring a variety of local foods, including Irvings Farm Fresh Pork Belly. Edmonton is only the third Canadian area to be highlighted in the series that is covering all of North America. The Edmonton episode is due to air on select PBS stations sometime in 2010.
Farmers Market Dinner
The Vintage Room in Madison's Grill on 25th August 2009 was the location for a 6 course dinner prepared by Chef Blair Lebsack showcasing local cuisine and how it gets from farm to plate. Alan Irving attended the dinner to talk to diners about Irvings Farm Fresh products, and about the products featured in 3 out of the 6 courses.
Lovoni Walker - Live Cooking Demonstration
Callingwood Farmers Market on 23rd August 2009 hosted a live cooking demonstration by Celebrity Chef Lovoni Walker, from the hit show Simple, Fresh, Delicious! Irvings Farm Fresh Sausages were featured in a Mushroom, pork and spinach salad. For the recipe please visit our Recipe page.
