Delicious Juicy Shoulder Steak

The Finest Pork
The Berkshire Breed of pig consistently yields gourmet pork that is superior in taste and eating quality. This premium quality meat is darker, tastier, and contains more marbling than most other types of pork. Even the fat from the Berkshire has enhanced physical properties and flavour when compared to other breeds, and it actually breaks down during the cooking process adding to the overall flavour.

This exceptional pork, prized for its richness and depth of flavour, is often referred to as 'Berkshire Gold', and is widely considered to be the Kobe beef of the pork world. It consistently tops other breeds in categories such as meat marbling, moisture and tenderness.

The Berkshire pig is named after the county in England where they were discovered by Oliver Cromwell's' army more than 300 years ago. The Berkshire has been in North America for nearly 150 years.

Natural Pork
Our small herd of Berkshire pigs is raised as nature intended. The animals are allowed to move freely in their environment, and are kept outside for most of the year. The animals are never raised with the use of antibiotics - however a sick animal will be treated as necessary. Hormones are never used to promote growth, and the pigs diet consists of grain, high protein soya, and a vitamin / mineral supplement. Our pigs are never fed any animal by-products.

Tender Cooked Bacon Chop

The pigs are raised and treated with respect. They have lots of human contact, and are given 'toys' to stimulate them in their environment. The pig is an incredibly intelligent animal, and they therefore get bored if they are kept in an un-stimulating environment. Outdoors in hot weather we keep wallowing pools filled with water so the animals can cool off by rolling in the water holes. All outdoor animals are given access to shelters so they can get shade and shelter from bad weather.

We never carry out any procedures considered normal in a commercial pig environment, such as tail docking and teeth clipping. This is simply not necessary in a natural environment.

The butcher pigs are taken to an inspected abattoir, and then returned to our facility for cutting and packaging. The meat is always frozen to ensure its freshness.
